Concert pianist, Kim Min Su pounds out a classical tune at a stunning art gallery venue in Daejeon.

My trips down to Daejeon weren't all ancestor worship and suffering punishing questions and demands at the hands of my relatives ("When are you gonna get married?" - "You need to give your parents some grandchildren!" - "Why can't you speak our language well?" - "You should let your hair grow." - "I've never seen you before in my life. Who are you?" etc.). I occasionally had fun with my pianist cousin (not pictured) who chauffeured me around town from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. On this particular occasion, we attended a classical recital at an art gallery, part of which was outdoors and designed like a traditional Korean abode. Besides the beautiful music and venue, what I remember most from that night is the dipping nighttime temperature and cursing myself for, yet again, wearing shorts.

Many more photos from this evening's proceedings to come including that of the most shameless master of ceremonies on the Korean peninsula. Despite being untrained in any form of music, he decided, on a personal whim, to casually stroll in from behind the audience and belt out Frank Sinatra's "My Way" during an intermission. To top it off, as if we couldn't distinguish, he disclaimed without irony that he was not formally trained as a singer.
